In what is probably the dumbest move that Twitch has done, they decided to allow generative AI to train its models on streams. This is bad for vtubers who get their models typically drawn by artists and rigged by them. It’s also bad for those who draw on stream or do crafts as well.

The other dumb move that they did in conjunction with this is not allow people to opt out easily. Even the selector is broken by Twitch saying that even opting out doesn’t allow you to actually opt out of the program.

It’s honestly a tone deaf of Twitch to do when so many artists , vtubers and streamers are against generative AI as a whole. It wasn’t even a month ago that AI company Anthropic was not only sued because they stole hundreds of older books but they also destroyed them trying to train models on them.

Many of these older books being first editions and they’ve likely done the same for art as well.

It’s honestly disappointing that a company can be so entirely tone deaf. That Twitch would decide to use generative AI and train it off of streams for what purpose?

Ultimately the better solution is to do away with generative AI. Just because it’s a shinier technology doesn’t mean that it’s better. We don’t need generative AI to generate art. That is a skill that you can master.

I just hope Twitch realizes that it’s only going to help speed run us to disaster.

Generative AI is a hot button topic and has been for many years. Recently it’s been more of a hot topic with popular vtuber Ironmouse cancelling her collaboration with Nothingness to Everness, a new gacha game that just came out due to their use of Generative AI and not disclosing that they were using Generative AI somewhere in their process. Many people are calling her out for virtue signaling though I found something peculiar is the number of people calling her out are Christian, and use Generative AI themselves.

I may be a lapsed Catholic, however, the Bible is absolute especially well within the Ten Commandments that states that Thou Shall Not Steal. For those who are not aware, Generative AI takes different parts of artwork and tries to sew it back together into some deranged homunculus. I think the maddening thing is how many Christians don’t understand that falling into sin isn’t a good thing. Especially since the Bible says that it’s theft.

Now many will try to get around it by saying “well fanart is theft then!” Here’s the thing though, as an artist, I don’t draw fan art. I draw original characters and designs. I have never been one to draw fan art and I’m not going to start.

The thing with being Christian is that you’re not supposed to sin or keep sinning. People keep trying to use Grace to excuse someone sinning but the problem is that Grace is only for those who are repenting for their sin. It’s not for those who are to keep sinning. Basically if you’re caught stealing, then you’re supposed to not steal again. While yes we all fall short of God’s glory and can’t match up to Jesus being sinless, however, that doesn’t mean that you suddenly give up.

The whole point of being a Christian is to repent and try to raise yourself to that of Jesus. As I said before countless times, God is using Jesus as a blueprint for who he wants to be in His Kingdom. For those using Generative AI and knowingly sin, it brings a bad image. Not to mention that many use Generative AI to make graven images of Jesus. Another big no no. While yes, Jesus died for our sins, however it doesn’t erase the face that we are flawed.

I don’t see Jesus being supportive of Generative AI and I’m sure that he would rather that all Christians would use their talents to draw and write on their own as God intended for them. He would rather that we use those talents than to use a machine to steal from others.

Not to mention that we are commanded to aspire to be like him. The word Christian derives from the word Christos which means Like Christ or Little Christ. We are supposed to repent for our sins and be able to absolve ourselves. We are supposed to not sin anymore not keep on sinning. It honestly shouldn’t be that hard of a concept but for whatever reason within the multiple branches of Christianity, it’s causing a divide.

We should be wanting to sit at the table that Jesus would sit at. Not the table that Jesus would throw. I don’t see how that concept is so hard to grasp.

World of Warcraft has been the forefront of MMOS for many years. Every single MMO whether it’s free to play or has been a paid subscription has always been touted as being the MMO killer.

Though its not without its controversies. Just in the past couple of years when the lawsuit was going on in regards to sexual harassment at Blizzard, many players stated that they were going to either quit playing or start playing private servers.

For those who are unaware a private server is basically the base game of an mmo like World of Warcraft or Aion that uses the original coding, assets and character models. The only difference is that the values for the game and the story are manipulated.

Many private servers will tout that they will give you 2x the normal experience or money gained and then have new quests. Or in Turtle WoW’s case they gave people high elves and allowed you to customize your classes.

Now the thing with private servers is that well…they’re illegal to make and even illegal to play. It’s basically like being in Fight Club. The first rule of Fight Club is that… you don’t talk about Fight Club. You don’t talk to other people about private servers nor do you admit that you play them.

One small slip up can either land you in jail or close down the server. Which is what happened to Turtle WoW.

Now the problem with Turtle WoW was that they not only had a patreon that they were taking money from people and that they even replied to one of Blizzard’s posts trying to taunt them. Now I don’t know the specifics about the lawsuit but it seems as though that Turtle WoW flew a little too close to the sun in terms of keeping the existence of the private server well…private.

If anything it seemed like they were flying a little too close to the sun. Honestly, I will say this, they kind of deserved it. That and two other private servers have also started to shut down as well. Which leaves the only other two that I know of. One is like Turtle WoW and the other is more for roleplayers to build their world.

But honestly I think the best option is that everyone needs to operate under Fight Club rules: Don’t talk about Fight Club. If anyone asks, no you don’t play a private server.

So to recap from this post, it was revealed that the popular streamer Sykkuno had cheated on his long time girlfriend of five years with two girls. It was revealed in a google doc, and a video brought to you by everyone’s favorite dramatuber, Mujin. Yes. That Mujin. The one that gave us the video on Sinder’s 1000 page google doc, on dokibird and others. Now it seemed like something was fishy.

However, for whatever reason, he had a massive crashout because Powdur who is a vtuber notorious for having right leaning opinions and saying that she never dated anyone outside of her race called him out. The thing is that anytime any sort of drama has spilled out, he’s never jumped on it as quickly as he did when he got the google document from one of Sykkuno’s side chicks, Mal. He decided to release it the day of which made people on all sides question him. Though no one on the side of the side chicks.

But instead of asking for clarification or even asking the girlfriend in question, he decided to post the video anyway. That was until both Sykkuno and his girlfriend both made a joint statement saying that yes Sykkuno was cheating but they were trying to work it out privately before everything came out in the open. No one asked the girlfriend for her permission in any of it and honestly it just became this one massive clusterfuck.

After watching the apology video, it honestly just seems like it’s an attempt at damage control because he got caught. If he had just waited like he normally had then everything would have resolved itself. I mean hell if one of the side chicks even resolved to asking the girlfriend for permission like she claimed then none of this would be happening.

But there’s always going to be three parts of a story. One person’s side, the other person’s side and then the truth. I’m sure there’s more to this that’s going to be coming out but hopefully Mujin has learned his lesson. I doubt it.

So, last week there was a vtuber either posing or trying to pose as a recruiter for the Navy and tried to make a recruitment video for them. Many people were up in arms of it given the current war going on involving Iran and the ongoing genocide going on in Palestine. The political climate honestly isn’t and never would be great for this sort of thing.

That being said, my dad is a Marine veteran as is my uncle. My maternal great-uncle was an Army veteran himself. I’ve had multiple friends over the years who have been in the different branches of the military. Now that being said I do support our military but at the same time I don’t support at how callously our country just throws people out once they end up either retiring from the military or having to be discharged and can’t survive civilian life. We expect them to die for their country but don’t do much to help them succeed, and many end up homeless. Because they don’t know how to cope with the trauma caused by their military service.

Most people don’t join because they feel an obligation to protect or serve their country. Some do so because they want to be able to get a gun, others do it to get out of the situation that they’re in. Some do it because members or their family were in it so it’s this long standing family tradition. That it also to mention that not everyone is capable of joining the military. Every branch is different and has their own rules that require people to do different things.

Just because you can join the military doesn’t mean that you should.

Not to mention that each branch I would assume has it’s own code of conduct, and a lot of it is that you shouldn’t try and talk about things while in uniform. I’ve had friends in the military and usually they wouldn’t talk about what they were doing specifically. My guild leader in WoW would let us know when he had training or he was going to be for a few months but that was it. Usually they would talk about what they liked, try to relax after getting off of their respective jobs. Or take the time to complain about the weather, like my guild leader did in Perfect World International.

They didn’t try to tell us to join the military. And usually they tried to avoid talking about politics. Because they couldn’t get involved. Yes politics are the issues that lead to homelessness or to war but if you’re not a politician then it’s pointless to talk about. People played World of Warcraft or Perfect World International to try and escape it.

Though I don’t think any vtuber would be good to recruit anything. We’re too chaotic as are the viewers. Most people tune into streamers to tune out of the world, out of their situation. It’s an escape much like playing Final Fantasy X was my escape from dealing with being abused by my parents.

So for the past year or so that I’ve had to write about this, there has always been a bit of controversy surrounding both DarlingStrawb and her husband Rev_says_desu. The last thing that I wrote was from January. So to catch everyone up, Rev is a vtuber who is solely a reactionary vtuber, by that I mean he reacts to what streamers talk about politically and culturally, for the most part he’s a grifter. His wife used to to ASMR stuff and then decided to convert to Christianity, because her husband is also Christian.

Now I said in the last post that they were fake Christians, mainly because and I’ll be blunt, they wasted time in talking about someone who said fuck ICE and then locked their replies so they weren’t going to get harassed by people. Personally, and it might be my age and the fact that I spent most of my young adult life being very angry and opinionated but what people do isn’t my business. I block people if it becomes too much of a hassle and will reprimand people because I do not like people using the faith that I have been baptized in and raised in like it’s some kind of fad. That pisses me off. Because you can tell someone who is fake and true by the nature of their fruits.

Of course this was before I decided that I would try to get confirmed and actually make it a point to go to Mass. I don’t know, I feel called back to the Catholic Church.

It’s not like I haven’t seen a lot of Fuck ICE posts, have made them and I’m the granddaughter of a German immigrant who would have been picked up by ICE despite being a green card holder and having a reprieve because his wife passed away if he were still alive. And even then I’ve just rolled my eyes at people and moved on with my life. It’s not hard and I would rather focus on other things.

The other thing that Rev is known for is having a loli vtuber model. Basically loli is a body type representing either petitie girls or women who are short and are flat chested. They also look relatively young. Which let’s face it there are real women that do fit that description. Now what they both collectively talked about was being against porn which is lolicon for girls and shotacon for boys. People took that to mean that they are also pro-censorship.

Strawb instead clarified that she’s not pro-censorship. She basically said that Christians should be against porn of all kinds. Basically, porn goes against everything that a Christian stands for in their beliefs. Because for Christians it leads you to lust and then cheat on your spouse. Lust is one of the seven deadly sins and cheating goes against the Ten Commandments which falls under the Law of Agape. She said that she wasn’t going to force her beliefs on someone else. Which I actually agree with.

And honestly, while I am a horrendously lapsed Catholic, that is exactly how a Christian should and need to be. The whole thing with something being against your spiritual beliefs is that it only affects you. There is nothing wrong with a Christian stepping away and saying, not for me. You shouldn’t impose it on other people. Because Jesus didn’t impose on other people. I think it was in the Book of Matthew that people refused to hear him and he decided to just dust his shoulders off and moved on. He didn’t force people to listen to him which is something that is lost on Christians.

In all honesty, I don’t like porn myself nor any NSFW content. Literally the only NSFW stuff that I have commissioned wasn’t nudity or sex scenes but pinups of my characters wearing lingerie. It was drawn in a tasteful manner and left a lot to the imagination. Porn honestly gives me the creeps, I don’t know why. But I’m not going to impose that on anyone or force people to think or do things a certain way.

I’ll give an example. I don’t like partaking in any gossip and feel really uncomfortable about it especially if the other person wants me to make a judgement on someone. When I worked at Target someone did try to get me to do that and I said, “sorry that goes against my beliefs.” They got upset and I clarified that I can’t take part in this discussion. I’m not going to not only disrespect Jesus, and I’m not going to disrespect my grandmother who passed away five years ago.

Like I said, I’m a lapsed Catholic. I can agree with DarlingStrawb’s statement because honestly the only person who is sinless is Jesus Christ. She’s not sinless. I’m not sinless. It’s not on us to tell people what to do. While yes we are called to lead people to Christ but you have to remember the old addage: You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink. You can’t force people to believe in the same as you. There is such a thing as a boundary and ultimately you have to respect it.

What Darlingstrawb said wasn’t controversial. I think ultimately the only controversy is Rev’s avatar being that he is a male but has a loli avatar which is a female, and before he used the avatar of a female character from one of the idol anime. I don’t know which one. I’m not familiar with it. I think ultimately that’s when you throw in the towel, commission a new model that’s not so…creepy.

The other thing is people try to use her past against her. I want to assume that she’s a recent Catholic convert and the thing with Catholicism is that it’s a never ending journey of repentence. You have sinned, you are seeking to change your ways and gain absolution for your sins and the only way to do that is not only believe but also do the work. It’s a lifelong commitment and if she’s serious about that journey then that is all that matter.

Because we are all sinner. Jesus died for our sins but that doesn’t mean that sin has stopped. We still have to put in the work to ensure that we are truly like Jesus because God is testing us to ensure that we are. To be a Christian means to be Christ-like. The only way that we can be like Christ is to repent and work on absolving ourselves and sinning no more so that we can be sinless. At least that’s what I think.

For those of you who aren’t aware, Sykkuno is a popular streamer who became popular after being on LilyPichu’s stream during the pandemic. I only started watching him either last year or the year before when he would go against Fusilie in Yu-Gi-Oh: Master Duel. He was most known for being kind of awkward and recently went to a Vtuber model because he was insecure in regards to his battle with eczema.

I think what people really liked about him was that he was socially awkward around women, not knowing really how to interact with them. Which I can understand, I’m socially awkward in some situations. My fiance and his father have a hard time trying to get me to open up a little bit more though my personality has started to come out a little bit.

It wasn’t until last week that a vtuber brought out a google dockey that claimed that he was a predator and had used her and another girl.

Though the truth of the matter is that he cheated on his girlfriend with these two other women. Now both of them are likely in their twenties. One of them has a big age gap. But honestly, I was skeptical of him being a predator or even emotionally manipulating people.

I understand that he was in a bad spot with his girlfriend and didn’t know how to communicate that he wanted to break up with his girlfriend. I get that. I’ve been in bad relationships where I was not only cheated on but also was manipulated by the other person.

I mean hell even when I was in my early twenties I was in a relationship with a man who was in his late twenties. What ended up happening was that he was cheating on me with two other girls at the same time. One of which I thought was a friend, the other was someone he worked with.

Now the thing that I don’t like is that people are trying to say that the two homewreckers are victims. I’m going to call bullshit. Even if you didn’t know about the relationship, you still accepted his advances and also his money. You wanted something out of him that was more than what he wanted to give.

You fell into the same gambit as many other mistresses have fallen into in the past. The only one who should be a victim is the girlfriend in question. Not to mention it’s kind of suspicious when one of the homewreckers said that she and Sykkuno could still be friends.

Here’s the thing: I’m not friends with any of my exes who cheated on me nor am I friends with their side pieces. Once I find out who that ex cheated on me with, that person’s name is mud. The matter less to me and I hope the worst for them.

Why?

I hate cheaters. I hate the exes who cheat. I hate the cheating homewreckers. There is nothing in this world that would make me want to forgive them. Not to mention that they would have to prove to me that they changed. Forgiveness is a journey and trying to be a clout chasing homewrecker isn’t the way to go about it.

Now there’s people coming out of the wood work saying that he manipulated them and tried to coerce them though the proof that they shared, didn’t really show that. As a woman, I honestly just shake my head anymore. Then again I follow the United States Consitition where it says that someone is innocent until proven guilty.

Any accusation I hold up with a grain of salt. If there is proof missing from context then I dismiss it. I have written my fair share of google dockeys, however, I at least made sure to have whole conversations with the proper context. I’ve also never been the person doing the cheating. I’ve always been the one that’s been cheated on.

I don’t feel bad for the homewreckers and anyone else that’s had a run in with Sykkuno. Always be skeptical of the people you meet up online. Always try to bring a friend with you. These are the rules of meeting people on line that were set in stone in the early 2000’s and still apply to this day.

And honestly I think any woman trying to bring to light more evidence, should at least admit that they’re homewreckers knowing now that Sykkuno was in a relationship and should do their best to repent for that transgression. You tried to break up a relationship whether you knew about it or not. And honestly you should be shamed for it.

But what do I know?

I feel bad for the girlfriend and I hope she gets the help that she needs. I also hope that she has a good support group to get her through this. Instead of claiming a bunch of homewreckers are the victims, maybe give her your condolences. Just a thought.

This might be me getting older. There’s just something about a laptop that had a disk drive in it. I know for makers of laptops that it’s a bit cumbersome. Because then you have to send a copy of the OS in case either something happens or for the user to be able to install the OS on their own.

I honestly liked having a copy of the OS because I’ve also liked to switch out my hard drive, anytime that it would get slower. That way I had a copy of everything that was on my hardrive so that way I could try to transfer it to a new device or the other hard drive. You never know what’s going to happen.

It added to the longevity of the laptop. Not to mention being able to play movies, video games and music at ease. Being able to burn music onto a cd just so you didn’t have to pull out twenty cds just to pull out a few songs.

Even in today’s digital age, sometimes having physical copies of things can be a great benefit. When I had to install my last hard drive I had to put a copy of the OS on an external hard drive because I didn’t have the system disk, I also didn’t have a disk drive for my laptop. Because they decided to take them out.

I ended up having to buy an external cd drive for my laptop because I wanted to watch movies on my laptop when my ps4 broke. I also wanted to host movie night in a discord I was in and that way the only way to do it. Because I didn’t have a way to stream from Netflix.

I was someone that had dvds for movies and for tv shows. Though I did have subscriptions to Netflix, I just preferred to pull out the dvds and play them. It made it easier for me when I was bored on my days off or if I was sick. Sure it took up a lot of space but it was something to have just in case.

I never really liked how new laptops not only take out the ability to take out hard drives and not have a physical cd drive. I guess the idea is to make them slimmer but I’m a stickler for having backups. Probably because my dad’s an engineer and always had backups for things.

I just want to have the ability to have backups again. That would be nice.

Blacklists aren’t something that I’m not new to. Having played World of Warcraft for many years on the roleplay servers, they are actually common. Technically speaking, the purpose of a blacklist is to notify the community at large of unsavory activity. Such as harassment, pedophilia, rape, racism, misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, and everything else under the sun.

The problem with blacklists is that people can use them to cause a witch hunt and a campaign of harassment against the wrong person. Something that the individual can’t recover from.

Worse is that it can lead to doxing and even harassment in the real world space.

Now while it’s important to cull the community of certain people who are guilty of doing certain things but at the same time, it’s also important to make sure that the information that you have is 100% accurate.

I’ve seen it happen where people have accused people of things that they didn’t do but were being stalked by their harassers because the other person didn’t like them. If anything people use blacklists as a way to harass other people.

Which is why any information being submitted to burn book type blogs and even blacklist accounts needs to be vetted before being posted. Meaning someone has to go through the information and make sure that not only is it accurate but that it’s not being used to go after the wrong person.

People have done less when it comes to clout and to ruining another person. It’s why people have done swatting in the past. Where they dox someone and then try to get their local SWAT team called on them.

Sometimes it’s a life or death thing that can ruin someone’s life.

While yes there are people out there that shouldn’t be in the community, however, that doesn’t mean that you have to go through great lengths to try and destroy someone’s life just because you don’t like them.

There are better ways of doing it and blacklists aren’t necessarily going to be one of them. I hope that there is a time when this isn’t the case, but as long as social media exists, it’s going to be hard to try to stop this from happening.

I honestly have never been a fan of blacklists or people making blacklists. People are grown adults and are or at least should be able to make certain ideas about the things that go on. They should be able to reach a reasonable conclusion on their own without someone telling them who they should be or shouldn’t be interacting with.

I’ve always held onto the notion that if I don’t like to interact with someone, I’m just going to block them. Though when I had my own issues with someone I did utilize a form of blacklisting, however, I’ve learned and outgrown that.

I try not to tell people who to follow or who not to follow. I don’t pay for their subscriptions or anything of that nature. I let people make their own conclusions as again, everyone is an adult or should be an adult.

Everyone should be capable of making their own decision. And that’s the bottom line.

So last week I talked about how vtubers shouldn’t make jokes about what’s been going on with ICE killing American citizens. And about how there’s a problem with Christian Vtubers. There’s another big issue though with this one it’s been a problem for many years, and I’m getting sick of seeing it. And that’s dogpiling on content creators to speak out about a single issue.

I know what many are probably going to say, “Ari, shut up about the politics. You hate talking about politics because of your health.” And you’re right. I do. I’m already feeling a migraine coming on. Well between that and dealing with other issues and not eating today. I’m a fucking mess. But besides that…

Look we are currently living in a time where shit has been bubbling up on the surface and something I’ve been noticing since I was a teenager during Bush Jr.’s presidency. It’s been happening since Obama was president. I’ve talked about it ad nauseum my whole adult life. I don’t talk about it much on social media because I’ve done that in mmos, in fotums. And again talking about politics affects my health. I don’t want to die in a library from an aneurysm. Do you?

However, during this time well within the last couple of presidencies, people had been dogpiling on celebrities to speak on other issues and if they didn’t then they got cancelled. The same logic has happened for content creators and vtubers through what’s called cancel culture. In all honestly I don’t think people in a public career should be commenting on anything. Their job is to entertain. Unless they have specifically been working as a humanitatian like Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, Mark Ruffalo, etc then they have that right, that is their secondary role especially if they’re an UN Ambassador. That is what they are supposed to do, speak on behalf of the UN and the people that they serve to Congress and world delegates.

If they don’t have that secondary role or a secondary role in humanitarian work, I honestly do not care. I’d rather hear from our senators and congress people who were elected to pass laws and ensure that the will of the American People are being executed and that we are protected and ensured that protection and safety. They are the ones that write the laws of the land per the legislative branch. They are also the ones who created ICE, they are the ones that can destroy it. They’re the ones who can fire members of the Cabinet and impeach the President.

The same rules apply to content creators and to vtubers. They don’t have the power like a senator or congress person does. They are like normal people trying to make it in today’s fucked up society and like so many Americans are a few paychecks away from going homeless. (As someone currently homeless, I can tell you, it’s not fun and it sucks. I don’t recommend it. Worse if you’re disabled.) They have nothing to do to writing laws or impeaching the President.

But yesterday at least two Vtubers thought it would be cute to dogpile Tomoe Umari who is a horse vtuber and is a member of the military. They decided to go against her and try to get other people to join in because she didn’t say “Fuck ICE” like everyone else and doesn’t want to talk politics. Which honestly, it’s fine. Not everyone should talk politics.

And this is coming from someone who has been very liberal since she was 14. Yes. I even wanted to vote at 14 because that was how much that I hated how things were going. I was like my great grandmother. I had an opinion and everyone had to know. So when I started voting at 18, I started to also email my senators and congress people. Now mind you, I lived in the South. I lived in Texas. Kay Bailey Hutchison until her death was my Congresswoman. She was a Republican and I still wrote to her. I wrote to John Cornyn and Ted Cruz. Hell I wrote to Ted Cruz so much that he kept sending me emails after I moved to Arizona.

I wrote Krysten Sinema emails after she decided to become an independent and then later Mark Kelly, Ruben Gallego, Andy Biggs and people not even in my state or my district. I didn’t care. I had an opinion. I wanted them to know. Because they had the power to change things.

Tomoe Umari doesn’t have the power to change things. She has the power to brighten people’s days. To make them smile and entertain them in a trying time. But she can’t influence people much like Mark Kelly can. Now that being said a vtuber can encourage their viewership to write to their senators and congress people to instill change. But two vtubers decided that was too hard.

One of which was Kourra who doubled down and tried to apologize. And the other like my tweet calling Kourra out on her bullshit which was ironic because I yelled at them too. But seriously, if you’re a vtuber you have a platform to encourage your viewers to write to their senators and congress people or write to American senators and congress people. This is a great time to do that.

I know others will say but “Ari calling is sooooo much better.”, consider that not everyone has a phone, or that people can actually get through to their senator or congress person. I usually go with emailing because I don’t articulate my thoughts when I speak as well as I do when I write. I get my words jumbled, I mumble, sometimes I speak too loudly or not loud enough. I get confused and really agitated. Sometimes my blood pressure spikes because I’m having a panic attack.

So for me writing is easier to say what I’m thinking and I can articulate it much better. I can say that hey I think this is what can be done or what needs to be done a lot better in text form than I can in speech form.

It honestly pisses me off that people are abusing their platform to encourage dogpiling. Look, as I’ve said before I’m homeless. I don’t have a safe space to live let alone be able to stream. My laptop itself is dead. I don’t have an active voter registration and in my family you can’t bitch if you don’t vote. I’m in a transition from one state to another and when I get more settled with a voter’s registration, a stable home and somewhere to stream, what I will do is take a day a week or two days a week and use my platform to encourage people to write to their senators and congress people. Take the time to show them how to register to vote. Show them where to vote. I’m not going to use my platform to say “well so and so doesn’t do the same as me so we should all tell them why that’s wrong and hold them accountable.” That’s weirdo behavior.

They’re not the ones making these decisions. The only people I want to be held accountable are those in power. Our senators. Our congress people. They are also those who can hold our President accountable. As they are the only people who can impeach them. So the next time you want to try and dogpile a streamer or vtuber for not publicly speak out. Ask yourself this: Do they have the power to impeach the President? If the answer is no, then don’t do it. Dogpile Susan Collins or your senator or congress person instead.

So for many months, people have accused Tectone of being a rapist and his dad of being one as well. Recently in a court case in Texas, he was accused of being a rapist and a stalker with the court protective order stating that he has to register as being a sexual offender. He also (legally) can’t own or receive guns.

Now this came out of a result of him being dropped by Mythic Talent a week ago. With many people going after either talent still apart of Mythic for defending him or those who have collabed with his defenders. Many wondering why they didn’t even say anything about it.

Personally I don’t have anything in this. However, our judicial system was founded on the idea of innocent until proven guilty under the fifth and sixth amendments, not guilty until proven innocent. Doesn’t matter if its a criminal case or a civil case. I’m not going to say anything until there is some kind of a determination whether or not someone is guilty or innocent. If the court decides that he is guilty (and he is.) then he’s guilty.

I know, I know. As a woman, I should support women. However, I’ve been through enough history classes, government and criminal justice classes to wait until the evidence is presented. Or in this case wait until the court case occurs and let the evidence be presented.

That’s likely why Mythic and even Mujin probably waited to say that they were with-holding support. Especially with it stating that Tectone is schizophrenic and is likely un-medicated. There’s good reason to air on the side of caution. One of which being the victim’s safety.

I know it sounds silly, but sometimes protective orders don’t really mean a whole lot. There have been times when a female victim has gotten them, only for their life to be taken. While Tectone can’t own firearms legally, that doesn’t really matter much if you can get them illegally. He can still try to take her life, especially with there being people still on Tectone’s side. It’s honestly a slippery slope.

Unless of course he ends up locked up in jail, that’s going to be the only thing that will ensure her safety ultimately. It’s great that Texas decided to do something for once, but I don’t see it doing much. Not to mention there’s not a lot you can say that’s going to jeopardize a court case.

But this is just me speculating. I even told my boyfriend who has a degree in criminal justice himself and has worked security. He’s even said the same thing. That protective order isn’t going to do much and it’ll be a matter of time until Tectone tries to kill her or kill someone close to her. It may seem like a win, but when has a protective order actually…well protected someone. Not that many times. It would have been better for him to undergo a court ordered therapy or stay at a mental hospital until he’s not a danger to himself or others.

But I doubt that will ever happen. For now it’s going to be a wait and see.

For whatever reason, someone decided to make a period tracker for the female vtubers so that people could be able to tell when they were ovulating and fertile. I honestly wish that I was making this up but I couldn’t make this up even if I tried. In my long time on the internet. Not that I want to think about the horrors of the internet.

But the one thing that gets me is: why?

Not even my boyfriend has ever kept track of my periods since we started dating. Even though he jokes that he should since my watch doesn’t do that good of a job at tracking it. He’s helped me prepare for it and even deal with some of the hangups of my period. But not once has he tracked it.

And for a stranger to try and track someone’s period is honestly really weird.

People have defended the tracker by criticizing women for sharing their own medical issues. The problem is that they associate stomach problems with it being period related. You can have stomach issues and it not be related to a period. I had pains coming from my side earlier today and it wasn’t because of my period. I had diarrhea because I drank too much coffee.

Sometimes before I get my period. I will get migraines the week before it starts which has been a better factor than getting cramps. And sometimes I don’t get cramps until the day after or I get them two days in a row. Sometimes I get back cramps.

Now instead of making a period tracker it would better for someone to oh I don’t know, maybe illustrate the complications that comes with the menstruation cycle. Like talking about PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) or Endometriosis. You know, the two things that’s really hard for women to get diagnosed with. The two things that can make a woman infertile.

But know let’s make a tracker in case in some fantasy land where said vtuber will date you like it’s some really bad Otome game.

Honestly, my boyfriend made this point to me: We don’t bully weirdos enough. Some people just haven’t had the brakes beaten off of them. Now I’m not someone that would advocate either. But if you’re going to try and take consent away from this and put the blame on women, then you definitely deserve to get not only bullied but also beaten.

Because what in the fuck is wrong with you? Who raised you? I mean really?

So last week I talked about how we shouldn’t be making jokes about ICE as people have been getting killed and kidnapped who are law abiding citizens, who have come to this country legally. Who are not violent offenders, This week is about more of the same, except Rev decided to take issue with what another independent vtuber had said in regards to the recent ICE execution.

Now for those who don’t whether you choose to keep your heads in the sand or god knows what, Rev is a right winged vtuber who has an vtuber model of that of a young girl and self-proclaimed Christian. I say self-proclaimed because you can usually tell a Christian by their fruits, and as someone that has unfortunately been a Catholic, and has been in Christian chatrooms since the days of Myspace. (Yes. Myspace did in fact have chatrooms and were partnered with userplane. They also constantly got overrun by spammers, didn’t have a block button and a friend of mine actually had to make a third party client that had a block button.) I was often the target of harassment and hatred because I wasn’t an extremist Christian who hated gay people and actually followed Christ.

Rev says and has said a lot of questionable things. Most of which were covered by Nyara and somethings that I don’t want to touch with a ten foot pole. But again, I have dealt with so called Christians before. You can tell someone’s a phony by how they act and treat other people. I know people will and have tried to defend that behavior but that will be a hill I die on.

But like the saying goes, there is no other hatred like a Christian’s love. (I probably butchered that.) But at the same time you can’t claim to be Like Christ and be a hateful person. The two do not exist within the Law of Agape.

Now Lala tweeted out a few days ago Fuck ICE, which is a sentiment carried by many vtubers. Whether they are political or not. People have their reasons for not wanting to talk about it. Mine are my health and the fact that I don’t have a safe place to be able to as I’m not that privileged. It’s why for vtubing, I’m on a hiatus until I do have somewhere safe. And figure out what’s wrong with my heart.

Rev took issue to this because Lala has a 1950’s vtuber model. Now here’s the thing, you can like the fashion of time period and not actively share the ideals of that time period. I like the aesthetics of the 60’s and 70’s. Now, I don’t share the sentiments surrounding racism, misogyny and other issues of that time period. That being said when I was 14, I was known to be a bit more radical when it came to feminism and my dad said that if I were living in that time period I would be burning my bras with the rest of them. Those were the ideals that I had. That men and women are equal and should be equal.

Now that being said, ICE is not tamer than any law enforcement agency. You know how I know that? Back in 2013 to early 2015 I used to work for a training company that made videos for law enforcement. Said company got audited by TCOLE (Texas Commission of Law Enforcement) because our standards didn’t match there’s, that and they thought of themselves as the law and wanted to make training agencys’ lives hell, on top of their officers, and like to not tell us what their class codes changed to which made reporting officer training to them all that much harder.

For the audit I had to watch every single video that we had dating back from the 1980’s and screenshot every cop that was speaking. I watched a couple months worth of videos on how the cops were trained from use of force to active shooter so I can actually comment and say that there needs to be a hell of a lot more training, and probably more government oversight that just states keeping track of training through POST or Peace Officer Standards and Training. The same goes for ICE. Or Gestapo Light.

What Rev doesn’t get is that ICE hasn’t been around that long. It was created back in the early 2000’s because the Republicans led everyone to believe that there was this problem with illegal immigration taking our jobs and other bullshit, along with the creation of Homeland Security through the Patriot Act. It was approved by Congress. Now the thing is that immigration has never once been liked since the 1800’s. The shit being said about “illegal” immigrants are the same things that was said about my family when they immigrated here back in the 1950’s. They’re the same things being uttered by the Know Nothings who were the first white supremacists in the 1800’s along with the Christian Nationalists.

Rev then had a problem with Lala locking her replies to which she responded with:

And then quoting scripture which upset Rev. Because of course it does. Here’s the funny thing about dealing with self-proclaimed Christians, they get upset when other people quote the Bible. It’s a hypocritical move to make themselves look like they’re superior to others. Especially when they get called out on cherry picking and not understanding exactly where they’re getting the quote from or the context of what the whole chapter is talking about.

Both Rev, his wife, and his followers took issue with Lala locking her replies and with her quoting from the Bible. Here’s the thing, people are allowed to lock their replies if they want to. I’ve been known to block people when my physical health is being negatively affected by people because my blood pressure is rising to a dangerous level. I am unapologetic about that.

CM Punk once said it best, just because someone posts something publicly, it doesn’t mean you go and yell in their replies. You have to treat it like it’s your house. You’re enjoying a nice day and decide to have the window open. Someone decides to ruin that by screaming in your window. So what do you do? You punch them in the throat and shut the window.

Lala is in the right to lock her replies as does any creator. Just because someone is in the public eye doesn’t give you the right to dogpile them. Which is essentially what people did.

Now his wife chiming in by trying to police Lala’s language. Again, ICE isn’t that long of an agency and isn’t really that storied. A lot of the things that they’re doing now go against a lot of the Constitution. Trying to tell people that you’re not being very kind by saying Fuck ICE is weird. Being a Christian, I wouldn’t even both trying to police someone’s language. I would empathize. I would understand where the person is coming from. Because Jesus would do that. And Jesus would be angry himself and shout out Fuck ICE. Much like he took his anger out on the money changers in the temple.

But we only remember Jesus’ anger when it suits our rhetoric. Here’s the thing, people can test your faith. As is their right with the first amendment. Congress can’t make any laws in accordance to faith. However, that doesn’t stop someone for criticizing you because you don’t know the difference between your asshole and the hole in the ground when it comes to your faith. And no I don’t have to be nice in that assessment,

When I was in Christian chatrooms, I was never treated with any kindness despite being a Christian, but I was the wrong type of Christian. I also had a man who was a similar age as my dad, and a father himself who called me a cunt 11 times. If not more. Yeah. Very nice. Very loving.

There is no hate like a Christian’s love. And if these so called, self-proclaimed Christians truly did as Christ would, they wouldn’t take issue with being questioned or anything. But that is because they’re not Christian. You can judge someone by their fruits. Sure that verse is used to describe those who are false prophets but in a way creators like Rev and his ilk, are in fact misleading a large group of people. Like false prophets.

I know that some will say that this is how Christianity is and always been. The problem is that there was a period where Christianity wasn’t an established religion. It was a mystery cult of people that followed Jesus’ teachings to the best that they could. Though you had some outliers of the Ebonites and Marcionites that…did the opposite. Though the original holders of that mystery was the Gnostics. The point is that Christianity the mystery cult was persecuted and killed for their beliefs. It wasn’t until Constantine came into picture that allowed the Christians to exist, and for the Councils of Nicea and Trent to come about. From there people used the religion to further their lies and profit from it. Though the message of the Law of Agape still stands.

Love God. Love thy Neighbor.

That is it. That is all. The Ten Commandments can be summed up in those two commandments alone.

But these fake Christians do not care. They do not understand the Bible. They do not understand Jesus. They will try to sell their product even at the deaths of the many. That’s why there’s a problem with Christian Vtubers that go about this path. Their Christ is what people in the Pagan community call an egregore or a thoughtform. It’s not actually Christ. Because Christ would condemn them for their words and their actions. Christ would rebuke them and likely be killed by them.

The same thoughtform that has thought that enslaving and torturing people was okay. The same thoughtform that has thought that people of a different race were lesser. That has thought that women are lesser. It’s a dangerous thing. The corruption of Christianity.

But it’s them that will keep endangering Christianity. Christ would not support ICE. Christ would not support the incarceration of the innocent nor the murders of the innocent. These Christian Vtubers are not like Christ. And I honestly wish they would stop calling themselves Christian. You are called to be like Christ. It’s in the name. Literally.

Now I know that the golden rule has been don’t talk about politics. For me personally I have this rule simply because of how heated I get and how much my blood pressure has raised as a result. Now mind you, I’m only 35. When I was in my teens and early twenties, it would raise to the point where I would start to feel physically sick and get light headed. I would often joke that I was likely going to die on an anerysum because what was going on would anger me so much and getting into arguments would often times rile me up to the point where it was greatly affecting my health.

Now for those of you who don’t live in the United States or doesn’t pay attention to the news or lives under a rock (God I wish I did), ICE which stands for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement which was built up from already existing programs and from the creation of Homeland Security back in the early 2000’s. It’s been around since I was in high school.

The purpose is to apprehend those who are perceived as being here illegally and sent to their home country. Now there have been people taken in loads before recently but none were taken in a manner that injured people, killed people, raped people, sexually assaulted people or treated inhumanely en masse as recently. Now as the granddaughter of a green card holding immigrant and someone who has had to study immigration as part of their bachelors degree, I will say fully of two things.

The first being that the United States has long since hated immigrants and this goes back to the late 1800’s with the creation of the Know Nothings. It did not matter if you came here illegally or legally, there was no distinction back then. If you weren’t what was called a WASP (White, Anglo, Saxon and Protestant) then you were a slimy piece of shit and needed to be dealt with. For Italian immigrants and Italian Americans living in New Orleans in the 1890’s, this meant you got lynched. (And for me being a European mutt and being baptized Catholic, I am everything that this white supremacists hated.)

This went on up until likely the 1980’s or 1990’s when everyone got thrown in together and were called white. But honestly, I look at it more as a token than anything. The thing about privilege is that it’s something that can be taken away and one thing I realized having researched white supremacist groups and having a narcissistic mother who is also a racist, if you go against them you lost that white privilege. They don’t see you as being white but as other. Or a race traitor. I mean hell just being disabled or homeless and people don’t see you as being white or a person for that matter. Especially if you’re homeless.

Anyway, with that out of the way, ICE recently has been kidnapping people presumed to being illegal immigrants for the past year. One of which was an elderly man who was trying to renew his green card. My grandfather immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1952 at age 11. (I thought he was 13, I recently looked at his immigration record and it showed otherwise.) He had filled out his green card every year, even when he married my grandmother. When my grandmother passed away in 2021, he had help from friends to fill out his paperwork to make sure that he could stay in this country. He never got his citizenship because he can’t read or write in English and likely didn’t feel the need to. He likely got a reprieve because my grandmother died. But he passed away in 2023 due to complications due to prostate cancer.

Now had he survived, he likely would have been picked up by ICE and given with how much of a loud mouth he is, would likely get killed. Though if he still had cancer, he would be sent back to a country he hadn’t set foot since he was 11 not having a home or a pot to piss in and likely succumbed to the cancer. Everyone that was left in Germany on his side of the family is dead with my mom’s cousin taking her life in the 70’s. There would be no one to take care of him, whereas there would be myself, my parents, my aunt, and cousin.

Recently, there was a woman by the name of Rachel Good who was gunned down by ICE in Minnesota and at Target there was a young man who was kidnapped and then dropped off at a local Walmart after ICE agents realized he wasn’t illegal. I can empathize with what Latinos are facing because again if the complications didn’t kill my grandfather surely getting kidnapped by these Gestapo like people would. I will called them Gestapo because my great grandmother was a survivor of the Holocaust and was taken when my grandfather was two.

One thing that I do not get is the need to make light of things. ChaCha’s joke was completely insensitive. And before anyone says anything about how I can’t take a joke, one of my favorite comedians is George Carlin. There is also a time and a place for jokes and making one based on what is going on isn’t funny at all. People have been taken captive, people have been raped and even were killed. It is honestly reprehensible as is this:

Now when I was trying my best to go back to being a Christian. I struggled with my faith for years and wanted to give it another go due to the fact that I was dating a Catholic last year. (Who ended up dumping and abandoning me in Denver and I became homeless as a result. But whose keeping track??) Anyway, there was a lot of un-Christian things that Celestium has said and I blocked her for. Sorry but I don’t have time for false pretenders and especially those that ignore the part of the Bible where Jesus says “He who goes against my brethren, goes against me.” Jesus marked the sick, the homeless and the poor as his brethren. In our modern world he was illegally born in Bethlehem. We also don’t know what form that Jesus is going to take for his second coming and we know that his first form he was in the form of a Shepard, a carpenter and didn’t wear the nicest robes either.

But her tweet about making an ICE inspired outfit to wear is honestly the most sickening. Especially for someone that calls herself a Latina and a Christian and doesn’t have the sense of having an ounce of empathy is sickening. It’s reprehensible but she’s not the only so called Christian making waves like this. It’s honestly enough for me to renounce myself as a Christian and go back to being Pagan. If I end up in hell then so be it, but I’d rather not be associated with a bunch of fakes.

Now I don’t have the means to donate as I’m not earning enough with my side hustle and won’t get paid until… March for my writing gig. But if you could consider donating to Freedom for Immigrants and other charities working to help victims of ICE brutality, that would be great.

In a move that surprises well, everyone this past Christmas Eve. Twitter decided to give everyone an edit button but it wasn’t for posts. It was so that people could use the edit button on artist’ artwork that is posted on the website. Leading many artists to flee the site to bluesky, where as others are thinking of ways to combat the AI so that they can be able to post their art on the site, and others that just feel like giving up.

I’ve talked about AI Art several times on this blog, since art and gaming do go hand in hand. You can read about them here, here and here.

The thing is that AI or in this case Generative Art isn’t even that good at replicating the art that any artist can put out. The hands are always off or has more digits than asked. The eyes are off center. Hair goes in places that it shouldn’t or melts in with the character itself.

Which again it doesn’t really do the art justice or anything. And the fact that Twitter decided to do this is a slap in the face to artists everywhere. Which is causing many of them to either jump ship or try to stick around.

Though this is causing infighting amongst the Vtuber community because artists are saying that vtubers aren’t allowed to post the art that they commissioned. Which may seem like a slight against the vtubers. But as someone that does draw and is an artist. (not a good one), however, I will say that if one of my artists said “hey don’t post this on twitter” I would do so.

It’s a sign of respect.

Like it’s not hard to comply with a simple request but somehow people have it in their heads that it infringes on their rights. You’re not entitled to the art. Art is always going to be a luxury and an option. Without artists there aren’t any vtubers. Now artists won’t have the traction as they would without vtubers but really it’s the vtubers that need artists more than artists need vtubers.

So for vtubers to try and fight against artists is kind of a silly notion. But for now artists are scrambling to try and find a safe corner of the internet away from AI in the hopes that their art won’t be used to train the generative AI.

Time will tell.

It’s been a while since I last wrote about any sort of voice actor issues coming from a Mihoyo game. The last time was during the wildcat strike that caused many voice actors to attack a fellow voice actor for checks notes taking a position after a previous voice actor decided to not work for several months during an unofficial strike. You can read more about it here and here.

Those who had quit and were fired after all of the backlash from that…well clusterfuck have been replaced.

Though recently, Corey Landis, the VA behind Welt Yang for Honkai Star Rail has recently been released from his role.

The reason seems to be that he was in a dispute between the recording studio being Lionbridge Games in terms of negotiating a contract. Through his whole time working on Honkai Star Rai he was working without a contract.’

Though really on the deeper side of things there was a contract dispute lawsuit that was really going on that was recently dismissed. Hoyoverse decided to end the agreement as there wasn’t a contract.

Now usually when there’s a dispute between a voice actor and a studio, Hoyoverse has gotten involved on behalf of the voice actor. Like when Formosa wasn’t paying several of their voice actors, Hoyoverse did get involved and had the studio switch to Sound Cadence.

However, it seems that Corey Landis tried to show emails between him and a Hoyoverse employee and doxxed him. Now people seem to think that doing so is all fine and dandy and that there aren’t any repercussions because they work for a big corporation.

As someone who has worked at a big corporation as a low level employee, having people post anything related to what I look like to my name always scared the living shit out of me. We live in a society (at least in the US) where people will use a gun to take care of a disagreement. After the local Walmart had a shooting because someone wanted someone else’s parking sport and the last couple shootings happening in malls, and other retail stores (one of which I frequented in Allen, TX growing up there.) I was afraid of someone using my name or face to carry out some plot or being discovered by family members. (Because I was estranged from half of them.)

Just because someone works for a corporation doesn’t make them a person. They have a life and have families. Giving out their personal information especially a business email without their permission is doxxing. I don’t care what anyone says and it’s especially fucked up to do so.

When you go out to work in the professional world, there is this thing called ethics. And one of those things is that you don’t give out or show people their personal information. I don’t care if there’s a dispute between you or them. That’s not for the public to see first of all and second of all, fans of Mihoyo games have this history of checks notes harassing people.

Which we saw when Jacob Takanashi became the new VA for a Genshin character and was instantly harassed by fellow VAs and by fans. Mihoyo fans do not have a good track record at all. Though Corey Landis deleted the tweets however that does not exempt him from the fact that he tried to have someone doxxed.

I know people are trying to get him re-hired but I’m sorry if you partake in trying to rile the fanbase to do another harassment campaign then you shouldn’t be allowed to have your old position back, at least until you understand the meaning of ethics.

It seems like when this happens, it always baffles me on how there aren’t any VA’s with any lick of sense or any sort of morals or ethics. Well except for Megan Shipman but she’s the only one. Maybe one day people will learn from this. But I don’t see that very likely.

This year has been something of a whirlwind for me. One minute I’m working at Target struggling to get 25 pallets cleared on my own because I’m having to do three different departments at once: be a cashier, work guest service (customer service), run order pickups (basically grab the items for people that order their stuff online. Order pickups were timed which made me panic and the ship from store which went to people for delivery wasn’t time but still stressful.) Constantly didn’t get much help from my leaders until I had a meltdown or was basically begging for help.

I put myself back in college last year after not having success finding a job in IT. Hell, I wasn’t having luck just trying to find a data entry job so I could work from home. My home life sucked as I lived with a narcissistic mother who made my life a living hell. Got so bad I didn’t have energy to really do anything just do homework and work on Pagan Path and this blog.

By March 17th I had enough of it. I moved out with a few things, quit my job. Decided that I would try to be a freelancer and still write both blogs. By the 31st of March I decided that I’d go to Denver, Colorado to be closer to my long distance boyfriend of almost a year. Thinking that it would be better there to get a job.

Didn’t have much luck in all honesty. Even freelancing was hard because I wasn’t making enough and was struggling to make ends meet. But it was fine, I got my first subscribing and even tried my hand at being a vtuber as well. Was staying in hotels throughout Denver because while I saw my boyfriend at least twice, he didn’t make any effort to really help me much. Nothing really changed in our relationship. I mean hell I should have known something when I almost put down for an apartment that he wasn’t willing to be a co-signer and didn’t offer.

Things really went downhill when he dumped me near the end of July, the next day I went homeless having ran out of money and I just started to give up. Spent two days on the literal streets on Denver. Got help not from anyone but a few druggies and managed to get into an overnight shelter for women. Managed to keep up with my homework for college until my laptop broke, spent my birthday in a woman’s shelter.

Made some friends and started to rebuild the parts of myself that I had lost. Had a new boyfriend for a few weeks though it felt that things were going too fast and didn’t felt respected until I met my current one. Which to say when he laid eyes on me it was love at first sight. When I saw him it was “okay whose this guy?” The more we talked and got to know each other I started to fall for him even though I was in a relationship.

I dumped my boyfriend and we started dating. We both got tired of the chaos of the shelters in Denver and decided to move to San Diego on a whim, thinking that we’d have better resources to getting back on our feet. Even though he had been homeless for seven years and gave up on hope, and me well…even on my worst days I’m too stubborn to say die. We missed our bus stop and ended up getting off at the wrong stop. I had to sell my Switch, my games so we had money to make our way to where we were supposed to be going. Though we got separted for a few hours and both of us freaked out. We later found each other and realized we can’t be separated.

We’ve had a few setbacks in the past few months. Lot of fights but it’s made us stronger. He’s honestly been my rock when it comes to keeping up with not only this blog, but my writing in general. And been super supportive of me going back into vtubing, and even drawing more. Just as supportive as my grandmother was. Not to mention that I re-connected with my estranged aunt, uncle, cousin and grandmother. Reconnected with an old high school friend.

Hell, anytime I tell him of how my articles are being shared by people and commented and even viewed, his face just lights up. Never had someone cheer me that hard. And I got picked up by an Australian publication called the Phrasemaker so I’ll soon be writing stuff for them.

So looking onwards

Couple things that I think will happen. We want to get a vehicle so that way we can go eastward probably towards Kentucky to stay with his close friends for a bit. Probably visit my estranged relatives for the first time in years and visit my friends in Texas.

I’m definitely going to dedicate more time to writing my fictional novel and write about my experiences being homeless, and his. And other peoples stories too. And likely return to vtubing and streaming the video games I love and also wrestling too.

I’m hoping that 2026 is a good year. One where I can finally heal and feel more like I’m supposed to.

PETA has always been a thorn in everyone’s side. For those who have been living under a rock for the past couple of decades, they’re an extreme “animal rights” activist group, standing for People Ethically Treating Animals. (Or as my dad has said more tongue in cheek People Eat Tasty Animals.) Now I put animal rights in quotation marks as they’re really not an animal rights group when they have the largest number of animals euthanized under their care. With just 69% of dogs and 64% of cats being euthanized at their Virginia shelter just last year. Not to mention the others that have been euthanized over the years.

Now, I love animals. I love animals more than I love most people (outside of my boyfriend and a select handful of people I consider family. Not my actual family, mind you.) I have always been an animal rights supporter and called the tree hugger in the family by my dad. Now that being said I’m not vegan (and digestively speaking I can’t go vegan because my body can’t handle anything that’s gluten free or soy related. If I was more near the ocean I’d go pescatarian in a heartbeat. And even then I don’t eat meat a lot. Actually since becoming homeless, it’s been a rare commodity and only when I actually have money to eat fast food with my boyfriend because we don’t exactly have the means to cook and store meat properly.), and don’t support PETA. Honestly I hate PETA and everything that they stand for and think that they and even Greenpeace go too far.

But I’m not writing this because I hate PETA. Well it’s a small part as to why I’m writing this. No recently they decided to put their sights on Umamusame. For those that don’t know it’s the new gacha game that features racing horses as pretty girls. It became a massive hit in Japan some years ago and just got it’s global release by Cygames, the developers of Granblue Fantasy. The neat thing about Umamusame is that it gives respect to the horses that it features and recently led to fans of the game to donate the equivalent of $600k to a charity dedicated to helping a retired racing horse

Now this isn’t the first time that PETA has tried to insert itself into the video game sphere. I mean they were notorious for it when Pokemon was big during Black and White. They always have to insert themselves to feel as if they’re relevant for whatever reason. Though between western fans and Japanese fans they may have bitten off more than what they chewed.

And honestly if I was Cygames I would honestly launch a lawsuit for defamation. Something that would hopefully put an end to PETA. Because again, PETA has euthanized more animals than any shelter in existance. You cannot sit there and tell me that PETA has any leg to stand on about anything in regards to the treatment of animals. I mean hell it’s very clear that they don’t treat animals ethically.

I think it’s time to put the nail in PETA’s coffin.

It seems like every single company has revealed that they use some form of Generative AI. Whether it was Square Enix or well Google, it has been an utter shit show. Now to re-iterate from yesterday’s post, generative AI trains on already existing artwork or features and tries to make an image out of it. Which usually takes from different artists and sources without it being asked of those artists.

Just to give another example using another bit of my older artwork. (Because I’m a glutton for punishment also maybe I can break at least one generative ai program with my art.)

Take that, put it into the prompt for the ai and then you get this result. Now the things to note is that AI isn’t perfect by any means neccessary. The hands are always off and you’re always having to put in 100 hundred prompts just to get it to fine tune itself. Which honestly for me I’d rather either just improve on my drawing or just hire an artist to draw whatever characters I have when it comes to roleplaying.

And the result with some tweaking would be this:

Again not even close to what the original product was which is hilarious and it trying to give a background when there wasn’t one to begin with. Like I said it’s not perfect and isn’t going to have a 1-1 scale.

Now the thing that has people concerned or even upset was that last year Larian Studios went on record saying that they wouldn’t use generative AI on Baldur’s Gate III.

Larian says that nothing AI-generated will appear in its games, and that it does not "develop concept art" with AI tools.

Now there were comments made earlier in the year that went unnoticed and resurfaced when Larian announced that they were doing a Divinity game and said that they were using AI to make placeholder levels and then go back over with human developers.

As someone that’s an artist (not a great one) and someone that has been wanting to work in the game industry since they were 13, I’m going to say that this isn’t a good look. I don’t care if it’s supposed to be in the ideation stage or brainstorming stage or whatever but it honestly takes away from the purpose of what the developers and artists are supposed to already do.

Maybe I’m just old school but I like drawing different people and concepts for characters. They don’t have names or anything but they have different hairstyles and outfits. Maybe I’ll use them for a book, maybe I won’t. But I just like to draw and that’s been a thing I’ve been doing since I was a kid and could draw.

Brainstorming is what makes us so creative and it’s apart of the process for a developer, artists and writers. It’s important. So for Larian and Expedition 33 to use generative AI as a placeholder is kind of I don’t know shitty. Like it shouldn’t be hard to come up with an idea as a placeholder. Like a lorem ipsum kind of thing.

Though I suppose there’s good news since the Independent Game Awards decided to revoke two awards for Expedition 33 that it was considered for because they used Generative AI.

I just hope that maybe game developers will learn from this lesson and understand that if your player base is important to you then maybe don’t use Generative AI.

Just a thought.

Blue Archive is a game that I have been meaning to play since the English servers were announced some months ago, and between doing college homework, writing articles and dealing with other stuff.

At any rate recently they were slated with doing a sponsored stream with Gigguk, Connor aka CDawgVA, Ironmouse and Zentreya. For those of you who don’t know Gigguk and Connor aka CDawgVA are both voice actors and are co-hosts of a podcast called the Trash Taste alongside Joey Bizinger who is known as the Anime Man. Connor is also good friends with Ironmouse and the two of them do a lot of collaborations together.

As to why they all got booted from the collaboration it’s really simple. Well sort of simple.

Connor is one of those people that will look at lolis and think that anyone that likes lolis are pedophiles. Which is something that is looked normally in certain communities. I will say after playing Final Fantasy XIV and World of Warcraft for many years and that both share the same opinions on it, that most normal people would have a problem with lolicon.

That being said I don’t have an opinion on it. Usually when I play a game with a loli I normally don’t play them and will sacrifice them for other units. Unless they have a good use like Lynx or Clara in Honkai Star Rail. (Meaning that one is a good healer and the other a good damage dealer. Two things that I care about when playing Gacha games. Though the only loli that I have outright sacrificed was Helena Blavatsky because well…I hate the historical figure. A lot. And I mean a lot.)

That being said I don’t know what Gigguk’s take is on it, I don’t normally listen to the Trash Taste. As for Ironmouse there’s rumors going on from several people claiming that she’s trying to get in on the LA clique of streamers in terms of trying to get better known. (Who knows, I’m probably misinterpreting it.) So playing this game might offset what she’s trying to do.

And then there’s Zentreya who does actually play Blue Archive. It’s just in light of Connor, Gigguk and Ironmouse and the latest controversy surrounding her model, she just got stuck in the mix.

In either case I think this is one case of the community successfully gatekeeping a game and where the game devs actually listened to the community and decided to pull it. Which I think is a good move altogether.

Though I think that instead of nixing the partnership together I think they could have still went with Zentreya but instead could have gone with other people who are actively playing the game. I think that would have been a better option. But let’s see what happens in the future.
