First Video Game

While there are updates going on with the latest Xbox Game Pass and the Pokemon update, however, I’m usually a week behind the information and I don’t want to solely report on the video game news. I want to have some more opinion pieces. I came across a list on bluesky that had the 1 like = 1 post where you talk about video games. So for everyday that I post, I’ll post an opinion piece on some of my favorite things about video games.

Starting with the first video game that I had played. Sonic the Hedgehog came out when I was a year old. I didn’t start playing it until I was…probably three at my aunt’s house. (Okay she was my mom’s cousin but still.) I wasn’t very good at it and even when I got older I still wasn’t good at the game. But it’s what got me into the Sonic comic book and both of the cartoons. (Sonic SATAM and Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog).

I was obsessed with Sonic. I had everything that was Sonic. Sonic glasses, Sonic t-shirts, Sonic coloring books, Sonic and Tails plush toys. (My dog at the time was a German Shepard and she chewed on them both.), the pillow that was Sonic’s face. (In an era before squishmellows). I even had Sonic slippers. Yeah. I was obsessed.

But Sonic the Hedgehog was what paved the way for me being a gamer too. After that I got a Game Boy Color when I was 8, a Sega Genesis of my own when I was 9. And a
PS2 when I was 10. Since then I’ve always played video games and while I’ve grown out of my Sonic phase, Sonic still holds a special place in my heart.
