Four Gateway Games
There's a special game that's close to our hearts and then there's a game that gets us into a whole series that will stick with us forever. Here are some of my gateway games.
Shadow Hearts: Covenant

I was watching Judgement Day one day in 2004, and was watching the Treasure Trove segment with Tommy Tallarico. Shadow Hearts: Covenant was the game that he picked out for that segment, and I had fallen in love. The game mixed tarot with eldritich abominations and traveled around Europe and then Japan during the first World War.
Though it's the second game of the series it's what got me into the series as a whole.
Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny

Another sequel I played out of sequence. I remember seeing Onimusha 2, and picking it up because you fought demons in Japan as a samurai. I was a fan of Ruroni Kenshin and Peacemaker Kurogane and Inuyasha so I had to play the game. It was a long ardous journey but I absolutely loved the game and played through Demon Siege, Dawn of Dreams, Blade Warriors and Warlords.
Now if only Capcom would do a remaster of the games..
Final Fantasy X

Final Fantasy X was the first ever Final Fantasy game that I had ever played. It was a game that I played multiple times over the years and currently I own it on three other systems. It was also a game that had probably one of the best soundtracks.
Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana

Atelier Iris was another game that got me into the Atelier series. For many people it was the first Atelier game that had hit not only the shores of the western world but it was also the first game that was localized. It will always have a special place in my heart.
