RGG Direct: Like A Dragon: Pirate
Ryu Ga Gotoku released a Direct featuring Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii today. This time around you get to play as Goro Majima, a former Yakuza, rival of Kazuma from the Yakuza/Like A Dragon games as you go on a hunt for adventure and treasure.
Combat
The dynamic fighting system features two distinct styles for a variety of devious mixups. Mad Dog Style allows you to be a little creative with throws and other types of combos which also uses Majima’s muscle memory to slash at scallywags. The more you do combos you enter madness mode and unleash shadowy doppelgangers. Whereas Sea Dog allows you to dual wield two cutlasses where you can slash at your enemies. You can engage in long range by throwing your cutlasses at your enemies like boomerangs. You can also use the chain hook to bring in your enemies close and then deal out combos. You can also take out your pistol and mow them down. When you max out your madness gauge, you can use instruments to summon creatures of the deep to assist you.
You can also easily switch between fighting styles to max up your combos. Also bringing back the regular usage of random weapons just lying around. Whether they’re actual weapons or just a trashcan is uncertain but you can use them to clobber your enemies.
Pirate Ship
What’s a pirate without their ship. You get the Goromaru, the ship you will be using to embark on your adventure. The best part is that you can customize it. From the hull to the armor, to the sails and the figurehead. You’ll also need a crew. There’s at least 100 people that you can recruit to be apart of your crew. You also get to train your crew and whip them up to be the best crew through song, drink, adventure and victory.
They kind of sound like the Straw Hats in a way.
You’ll also be engaging in high seas battles on your ship and will need a lot of cannons. On top of using a rocket launcher.
Island Hopping
You start out on Rich Island where you wash ashore. It acts as your home base where you can restock your supplies, change your outfit and rehabilitate any animals that want to join you on your high seas adventure. However, the real fun is on Madlantis, a criminal hideout that was built in a ship graveyard ruled by ruthless Pirate Lords, one of them being Samoa Joe.
I wish I was kidding. They literally put Samoa Joe in the game.
Pre-order
If you preorder either digitally or physically you get Ichiban as a playable character and his outfit for Majima to wear. You also can upgrade to the digital deluxe edition to get the legendary pirate crew pack which includes Kazuma, the legendary outfit pack, ship customization pack and the extra karokee and cd pack. You can also get the Legendary Edition and get all of that plus an acryllic standee of Majima, flag, coin and eyepatch along with the game. On top of all that if you subscribe to Sega emails from now until Februrary 25th. you’ll get the Dragon of Dojima outfit.
Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii comes out on February 21st. New Game+ will come out as a next patch.
