These week has been one dumpster fire after another and for whatever reason Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start The Fire” is starting to play in my head along with CollegeHumor’s parody called “We Didn’t Start the Flame War.” But this week eyes have turned to Takahata or Takahata101.
Now whether you don’t know or have been living under a rock for the past 10-20 years, Takahata101 was one of the co-founders of Team Four Star, which was a company that brought to us a number of Abridged series such as Dragon Ball Z Abridged, Attack on Titan Abridged (which got copyright struck after the first episode and was never seen on their channel but I think someone decided to repost it on another channel), Final Fantasy VII Machinabridged and Hellsing Ultimate Abridged. I think he’s also helped with other Abridged series like Sword Art Online Abridged. And before we move on, an abridged series is basically like a parody based on the original show. They use episodes and cut most of the parts and makes jokes based on the actual story. Like Fate Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works Abridged (God that’s a mouthful) joke on Archer being Actually Satan.
Anyway. The whole Takahata situation is messy at best, and confusing at the worst. A number of people over the past few months have seemingly decided to drop their support of him and their friendship because of something that happened. The problem is that they’re not exactly speaking on what caused them to drop their friendship. Which sounds like a complete nothing burger until you look at what Takahata had to say:
Basically Takahata is preparing a document that is supposed to either expose what is being said. After watching Rima Evenstar’s video on it, there have been screenshots passed between people which has led to people wishing to distance themselves but for the sake of the victim they don’t wish to talk about it. Which is problematic on it’s own. Also there has been a police statement/victim statement so there is some legal matters that is brewing from this.
Personally, I have been in this situation more than I like to admit. I have had several friends that have been called out for various things, some stemming from years, others more recently in an attempt to try and defame them. However, I have learned that the best course of action wouldn’t be to try and distance yourself. Regardless of the situation, regardless if the victim came forward. It’s not my place to judge other people.
I want to say that it’s a case of he said, she said because there’s not much to really go based on. Until someone comes forward with what has been said whether it’s the victim or Taka, I’m not going to make any calls in regards to this. It’s a shitty situation and I wish that the people involved wouldn’t be so quick to judge because then it just makes it seem like it’s a sticky situation.
