Indie games have been on the market for the past 15 years or so. For many people they’ve never been the fancy of some people, for others it’s the only thing they have played.
Though it could be that people haven’t played these games simply because we’ve been inendated with mainstream games for so long. Year after year is jam packed from video game giants and monoliths that everyone has a large backlog.
Personally indie games haven’t been much of an interest of mine. I’m someone that doesn’t play video games just to play them. I have to be interested in the story, and just overall it has to appeal to me.
I’m not someone where word of mouth appeal is going to affect me. Especially if something is being talked about often. So for me I’ve largely slept on indie games myself because they just weren’t something that I was interested in. Not that I’m pro big studios or anything like that. I own about three different systems: Playstation 3, Playstation 4, and the Nintendo Switch. If we’re talking about handhelds then I have PSP Vita and a Nintendo 3DS. I’ve got more than enough games to get me through that I don’t need to nor should be buying anymore games.
For me personally, getting through my own personal hell of getting through my backlog, is something that’s important to me. (Also why I started this blog to try and force myself to get through it by writing reviews and doing a lets play channel.)
For others indie games are a must play kind of experience. If you’re not playing indie games then something is wrong with you. (That’s the impression that I’m getting.) Or for some like me, they either don’t appeal to some people and for others, they just have too big of a backlog that they need to wittle down a bit.
