Alright it is that time again. Xbox’s Developer Direct, while it hit a couple days ago, and I am of course late to the party. However, we’re going to dive right in but first a couple things. Unlike the previous Direct last year, there’s only four games, so I won’t need multiple posts.
That being said, Xbox kicked it off with a few words. One being that all games are going to be day one releases online and can be played via the game pass no matter if you’re on console or pc. Which is good. Well good for me since I don’t own an Xbox. (yet.)
So without further ado, let’s dive straight in.
Ninja Gaiden 4
Ninja Gaiden comes out after several years of there not being a release, marking 13 years. It comes out in Fall of 2025. Also coming out is Ninja Gaiden Black. This time around we have a new protagonist named Yakumo, who finds himself in Tokyo after the Dark Dragon has once again descended upon the city, and is corrupting it. We’ll get new antagonists and even take on the legendary ninja himself Ryu Hayabusa.
Also to note that you can start playing Ninja Gaiden Black, immediately. So if you want to take a dive into the world of Ninja Gaiden and kick off the Year of the Ninja right, then go ahead and check it out.
South of Midnight
Coming out in April is South of Midnight. Set in the Deep South, the game follows Hazel, who goes on a journey after a hurricane destroys her town of Prospero , pulled into something of a Southern Gothic fantasy where folklore bleeds with reality. Hazel becomes a Weaver, someone that mends broken bonds and spirits. It’s up to her to mend the broken threads of the Great Tapestry and find a place that she can call home.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Set to release in April as well. Clair Obscur takes you on a journey with Gustave, Maelle, Lune, Sciel, Renoir, Verso, Monoco, and Esquie, as they attempt to stop a being known as the Paintress as she uses her god-like powers to kill everyone. The game is a turn based rpg with some action time scenes.
Doom: The Dark Ages
Doom: The Dark Ages shoots it’s way into May, as it serves as a prequel to Doom (2016). While Doom and Doom Eternal focused more on acrobatics, Doom: The Dark Ages focuses more on the first person shooter aspect. Set in tech/medieval kingdom, you’ll be shooting your way through the denizens of Hell to save a kingdom in peril.
